What is NSEJS?

The National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) is a prestigious science competition conducted annually in India for high school students. Organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), NSEJS is the first stage of selection for the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). NSEJS 2025 Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) 2025, students must meet the following requirements:

  • India Flag Nationality:   Must be eligible to hold an Indian passport and have been residing & studying in India since 30th November 2023 or earlier.
  • Birthday Age Limit:   Students should be born between January 1, 2011 – December 31, 2012 (13-14 years old).
  • Books Class/Grade Level:   Must be studying in Class 10 or lower and must not complete Class 10 board exams before 30th November 2025.
  • School School Board Flexibility:   Open to students from CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, etc., if they meet age and grade requirements.
  • Science Educational Qualification:   Students must have a strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

How to register for NSEJS 2025?

To register for the NSEJS 2024-25 exam, you must complete the following steps before the deadline:

Step 1

Register through your school/college or online via the official NSEJS website (IAPT). School registration is done through the Principal or Science Teacher, while online applicants must complete the process and pay the Rs. 300 fee via bank transfer or card. Upon registration, students receive confirmation and login details via email and mobile.

Step 2

Download the admit card before the exam and carry it along with a valid photo ID on exam day. Results will be announced on the official NSEJS website after the exam.

What is NSEJS?
NSEJS stands for the National Standard Exam in Junior Science. It serves as the initial stage for the International Science Olympiad.
What is MAS and MI?
To qualify, students must have marks equal to or more than a Minimum Admissible Score (MAS). MAS is half of the top 10 scores' average. The Merit Index (MI) equals 80% of the top 10 scores' average.
What is the eligibility criterion to appear in NSEJS 2024-25?
Applicants must meet the age requirement, born between 1st January 2011 and 31st December 2012 (both dates inclusive).
Does the NSEJS exam have negative marking?
Yes, negative marking is present in the NSEJS test.
What is the time duration of the exam?
